July BirchBox Open Box

About a month ago I decided to join the BirchBox program after doing a little bit of research and seeing what other subscribers had received in previous months.  After stalking my postman for the last few days I was so excited to see this outside my door.

BirchBox is a monthly membership program, which costs $10 US; in return you get a box of miscellaneous samples for products to try.  Some of the samples could be more generous than others at times (and I’m going off of the reviews of fellow members).   If you decide to purchase full size items of the samples you received in your monthly sample box, you get points for every dollar spent.  Also, for any order over $50 you get free shipping … ehh … I was expecting more perks, but what the heck.  This is the first time I have received a package so honestly I was hoping to get more beauty items.

On to the goodies …

According to the note inside, Cynthia Rowley picked this months samples.

Kind Almond and Apricot Fruit and Nut Bar

Purity Facial Cleanser

Zoya Nail Polish

Ahava Mineral Hand Cream

Redken Shine Flash 02

I am excited to try all of the above except for the bar.  Gluten-Free ….. ???? I have tried a few Gluten Free products and they don’t seem to taste too good.  I’ll give it a go though.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed me sharing my BirchBox open box post.  See you in the next post.

In a Crafting Mood

I’m back with another post, however, this one isn’t about beauty.  A few days ago I finally gave in and talked myself into thinking I needed a sewing machine.  For a few years now I have been wanted to purchase one so I may hem my own clothes.  Us short folk need to know a good seamstress to alter all things made for normal size people … but back to my justification for my new toy …. Besides the 4 outfits I have already hemmed, I have now started to make other fun little things, one of which is this skeleton man.

I know of someone who is particularly fond of anything skeleton (see down below) and thought this was a great way to put my new machine to use.

It all started online, where most things start for me anyway.  I remember a few years back seeing this skeleton doll being made on one of her Halloween shows and thought it was quite darling.  After much search I found the template and video on how to make it.

The whole project took me about 2 hours, this includes sewing in the details such as ribs and face.

This is similar to the sock monkey with small modifications.  I was very happy with the final result and think I will be making more of these kinds of dolls in the future, perhaps not skeletons but definitely sock dolls.

Last night I thought I would also make a new strap for my camera.  It was so late I didn’t bother taking any photos of the whole process but I will share with you what the final product looks like.

I hope you enjoyed this post and seeing what has been keeping me busy these past few days.  This week I will be working on another strap for my other camera.

From my crafty mood,

Nature Weeks

It feels like I have been away for so long.  I have been so anxious to get back on and start sharing some of the beauty goodies that I have discovered in the past weeks.  However, that will be on a completely different post.

I wanted to share with you what my eyes have seen in the past few weeks.  We had company visiting which means we did a lot more outdoors activities that what we are use to during such hot weather.

I have tons of photos and am not sure if I will include those of my guest but here are a few that give you an idea of what we saw.  We had some guests join us as well but for their sake I will leave the more personal ones out.

Look out in the next few days and I hope to have a beauty post.

Ciao!
